ABOUT
Over the past year, Bakdil has been working towards community mobilisation at a pan-Garo Hills scale. As a part of this endeavor, they have helped in the setting up of All Garo Hills Multipurpose Cooperative Society (AGHMPCS), an apex cooperative under which all primary cooperatives at local levels have been mobilised. AGHMPCS has been set up to formalise existing market routes, provide marketing guidance and financial aid to farmers in an effort to ensure improved livelihoods and market literacy.
My role in this was to build the channels of communication in the form of branding, brand language, a brochure and a website to convey the cooperative’s intent, their plan of action and their vision for Garo Hills.
OBJECTIVES
i. For Meghalaya’s state government to have a clear idea about what AGHMPCS’s vision is, and how they plan on achieving it;
ii. Raising awareness among its prospective members about the cooperative what the benefits of being a member of the cooperative would be;
iii. A portal through which interested people could become members of AGHMPCS.
PROBLEM
STATEMENT
How might we create a brand for a first-time initiative that would appeal to stakeholders ranging from rural members to potential state government level entities?
THE
APPROACH
The branding approach was to convey the authenticity of the Garo people through portraits and photographs capturing Garo people in their own environment. This was complemented with bold, geometric vectors that were inspired by elements of nature.

INFOGRAPHS
Given the heavy nature of the content, I wanted to ensure the reader understands the message even if they are only skimming through the website or brochure. Infographs were made to accompany the text throughout the content.
BROCHURE
A brochure was designed to be circulated online and printed offline for distribution purposes.
